Robert Brady Finch was born in Panama and grew up an Army “Brat” living all over the world including: Virginia, Louisiana, Germany, and Leavenworth, KS. Music has been a part of his family for many generations; his parents, Lee and Linda, were both music education majors in college even though they never taught. His sister, Christi Celone is a band director in the Dallas area. Brady’s uncle, Bob Bruner, taught band in Missouri before moving into administration. His grandfather, Bob Bruner, was also a band director in Missouri and was the Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Brady graduated from Wichita State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance. While at college, he met and married Laura Griffin, a graduate of Lee’s Summit High School and a vocal music education major. Following the completion of his Master of Music Education degree from Florida State University in 2001, Brady was hired as an Assistant Band Director at Lee’s Summit High School under the direction of Jim Oliver.
In 2006, he was appointed Director of Bands and has continued the tradition of excellence with the Marching Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, and Campus Band. Brady feels truly blessed to work with an amazing staff; wonderful, hard-working students; and supportive parents. Brady resides in Lee’s Summit with his wife and their two daughters Leah and Rory.
