James Mauk has served as a guest conductor, clinician, and soloist throughout eastern North Carolina and Missouri. James holds a Master’s degree from Missouri State University where he studied choral conducting with Dr. Cameron LaBarr and served as a graduate assistant, associate conductor of the Men’s Chorus, coordinator of the summer Choral Institute, assistant conductor and chorus master for the MSU Opera Workshop, and taught undergraduate conducting. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from East Carolina University where he performed with the award-winning ECU Chamber Singers under the direction of Drs. Andrew Crane, Daniel Bara, and Al Sturgis. James is active in the American Choral Directors Association, Missouri Choral Directors Association, and Missouri Music Educators Association. He is the founder and artistic director of Collegium Carolina (NC), a founding member of the Missouri Choral Artists (Springfield, MO), and has performed with the Springfield Chamber Chorus under the baton of Dr. Guy B. Webb, Kantorei KC, Te Deum Antiqua, GKCAGO Schola Cantorum, and KC VITAs Chamber Chorus. Currently, James serves as the associate choral director at Lee’s Summit High School in Lee’s Summit, MO and as a choral scholar at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Kansas City, MO.
