Hello, LSHS Choir Family!

Pretty much all of you know by now that this is my final year at LSHS. Although much of this has been said through the grapevine, I wanted to send out a note to formally explain what I will be doing next year.

Starting in the fall, I will be returning to North Carolina, more specifically East Carolina University, to pursue a Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance. Additionally, I will continue to conduct Carolina Choral Artists, a choir that I started in NC, and will continue to sing with other professional and amateur choirs in that area.

Although teaching at LSHS has been a phenomenal experience, I feel that it’s the right time in my life to make this move. By far the biggest factor in my move back is being closer to my family. Living 1,200+ miles away has made it very difficult to be around for big family events, and it’s very important to me to be able to spend time with them, especially my elderly grandparents and my young niece and nephews.

Teaching at LSHS has been an absolute joy, and the students and faculty have been the biggest factor in that aspect. From the roughly 700 nicknames I’ve received, to the countless conversations that have made me tear up with laughter, and the incredible music-making that each class was able to do over the course of these two years, I will carry with me some fantastic memories from my time here.

I hope that you will all keep in touch, and continue contributing beautiful music to the world for a very long time! I’ll miss you guys.

Congratulations to this fine group of young people. After three rounds of auditions, these singers will comprise the 2018-2019 Sounds of Summit

All of the singers at the callbacks should consider themselves ALTERNATES to this ensemble. If for any reason, a singer cannot fulfill their commitment, you may be called upon!

A meeting will be held after school at 3:00 on Thursday, May 24th.

Please see below regarding details for Saturday's MSHSAA State Solo/Ensemble Festival in Columbia, MO. The schedule is attached along with a campus map.

Students should arrive one (1) full hour before their scheduled performance time to find their performance location, find their ensemble (if applicable), and warm up. Dependent on many factors, rooms could run ahead or behind schedule, so it's important to be ready to go early.

The Hitt street parking garage is the most central parking location and is metered. You may choose to arrive very early and try to find street parking for free, otherwise the garage is going to be the best option.

If you have further questions, please let us know!

Auditions were held on February 4th with 70 of our strongest intermediate and beginning students vying for about 45 spots in the program's flagship ensemble. Auditions were very competitive, and we are very proud of ALL of the students who submitted themselves for consideration. Everyone should be proud.
