Conductor Carrie Turner’s reputation as a teacher and conductor has brought her high acclaim. In 2011 she premiered Mark O’Connor’s new Orchestra Method at the ASTA national convention with the Junior Missouri Youth Orchestra. She has taught at many music festivals including the 2010 & 2011 Berklee School of Music/Mark O’Connor Music Camps in Boston.
Her infectious enthusiasm for music and working with young musicians brings an exciting energy to each rehearsal and performance. As an innovator in music programming, she works to collaborate with cutting edge guest artists to infuse new vigor and talent into her ensembles. Dr. Turner's work has included conducting the Missouri Youth Orchestra in Columbia, MO, the Kansas City Youth Symphony program, and youth ensembles in Lubbock, Texas.
Dr. Turner’s work as a conductor and teacher have taken her coast to coast working with top institutions and instructors in various styles and techniques in instrumental playing. Her passion for working creatively in different styles continues to inspire her to meet new artists and build collaborative relationships including artists Mark O’Connor, Tracy Silverman, and others. Dr. Turner holds a DMA degree in orchestral conducting from Texas Tech University and regularly performs throughout the United States.
